Not a lot of change from our program yesterday. If you didn't get a chance to get outside and play some catch, get out today.
Throwing
Outdoor throwing program - video
Bullpen - if you can get a bullpen in today that would be fantastic (note arm side or glove side indicates the pitcher's arm side or glove side).
Rhythm throws - 3 arm side, 3 glove side
(x2) - Fastballs 2 arm side, 2 glove side, 1 middle - wind up or stretch whichever he is more comfortable with
(3) arm side fast balls
(3) arm side changeup
(3) glove side fastballs
(3) glove side cutters (if they have learned a cutter from Danny) or 3 glove side changeups
(4) slide step runner on first - mix looks to first
(4) runner on second mix looks
(1) at bat to a right-handed hitter
(1) at bat versus a left-handed hitter
Fielding
Bucket Drill - the purpose of this drill is to work on getting around and through the baseball creating a good angle and momentum to first base. These can be done rolled to control the baseball more and roll it right at the bucket (or any object they have to work around) - video.
Live Ground balls
Wall Ball - if you do't have a field to take live ground balls at work on some throws off the wall
Hitting
Live outdoors
Warm up - soft toss or dry swing
Live (front toss or pitched balls) - here are some ideas for some focused rounds
2 x 8 - Regular swing - focus on being on time and smooth
1 x 8 - outside
1 x 8 - 0-0, looking to drive something
1 x 8 - two strike approach - look away and react in, extend the outer half
1 x 8 - 2-0 count - looking for a pitch to drive
Tee Work
2 x 8 - warmup - eyes on the pitcher
1 x 8 - open hips
1 x 8 step through
1 x 8 1/4 turn outside pitch (this is so you can still hit into the net for an outside pitch, just turn the plate 1/4 turn so a ball hit to the opposite field goes into the net)
1 x 8 1/4 turn inside pitch
